Lady Sovereign是一个19岁的，喜欢喝酒和大吃土豆泥肉饼的英国女孩，她念出半开玩笑的尖锐歌词，诸如“看我说的和别人有什么不同，我抛出的歌词就像一个家伙抛出的内裤一样。”

媒体这样评价Lady Sovereign：“英国最好的MC是一个身高只有五尺一寸白人小妞，碰巧还出生在一个极不相衬的地方”。身材矮小的说唱女艺人Sovereign自称是“MC中最牛的侏儒”，她出生在伦敦西北部的Chalkhill Estate。这是个声名狼藉的政府房屋工程，然而音乐和所有的艺术形式一样，出身从来就不是重要的事情。从小喜欢音乐的Sovereign不仅在她的说唱中保留了纯英式的格调，还加入了许多她在Chalkhill Estate的成长故事。

16岁那年，Sovereign得到机会参演一部影片，并成功说服制片人让她为影片写歌，结果涌现出一连串热门单曲。在成功发行一张EP后，2005年,Sovereign见到了说唱界的超级大牌Jay-Z，在一段现场的freestyle表演后，Jay-Z 当即提供了一份Def Jam唱片公司的合约。Sovereign终于凭借自己的努力和勇气站到了聚光灯下。
