Era,英文原意为“时代、世纪”,一般译为“创世纪”。“旋律是神秘的,节奏是震撼的,合声是神圣的,在Era的国度里,音乐超乎了视听的想像极限,波澜壮阔的歌咏着远古世代的传奇,同时也汇聚成一股心灵共鸣的信仰力量,引领人类远离尘嚣,迎向世外桃源。”法国音乐家Eric Levi是Era这个谜样的音乐计划的执行者。关于Eric Levi,外界了解确实不多,甚至也只在Era的作品中见过他的名字。青少年时期的他在滚石合唱团、齐柏林飞船的摇滚革命感召下,见识到了音乐改变世界的力量,1977年,Eric在巴黎组成Shakin’ Street乐团,乐团在陆续与The Clash、Generation X、Black Sabbath、Cheap Trick、Journey、AC/DC等乐团携手巡回欧、美。就在闯出名号之际,81年,Eric宣布乐团解散,独自前往纽约,全然投身音乐制作的行列。
“Era”由Eric Levi领导,并集结了数名来自不同音乐领域但皆才华洋溢的乐手。这个乐团融合了不同的乐风—-其中包括歌剧和舞曲,其作品可被形容为最极至的音乐实验。Era以\\"Ameno\\"发挥传统宗教音乐鼓舞人心的特质,并使用唱诗班来制造肃穆、神圣的气氛,同时以如剃刀般尖锐的吉他衬托出旋律。
Eric Levi的专辑中总能找到Enigma、Deep Forest的影子,甚至还能看到Adiemus的痕迹。虽然说AMG将其归类于电子,但却是NewAge风格的乐曲。营造氛围是Eric Levi的拿手好戏,而且在运用了Gregorian(格林高利合唱团)般的人声合唱之后,更让人们感觉他的音乐就像是NewAge和电子混合后的完美产物。
如果说Gregorian是在Enigma第一张专辑的音乐风格基础上强调格林高利圣歌而发展出来的,那么同样也可以说Era是借鉴与继承了Enigma、Deep Forest、Gregorian等名家的成功元素并加以进化创新而生的。
总体来看,Era与Gregorian两者的音乐类型都是圣歌与现代器乐的融合,甚至乍听起来,还颇为相似。不过学习并非罪,刻板模仿才是可耻的,毕竟不是每个人都能如Enigma那样能开一派之先河的。如前所说,Era本来就是对前人成功经验的继承和发展,关键在于比以前是否有所突破和变化。而经过市场考验的结果是上,Era成功了。
与Gregorian全男班的阵容,Era无论在和声还是领唱上,都加重了女声的成分,因而整体风格都显得更柔和、更温暖。Gregorian的歌声像高居圣坛之上的肃穆之歌,多少有点儿“可远观而不可亵玩焉”;而Era的则更人性化,像是就在我们身边的平民歌声。而且由于女声的加重,Era的声部明显比Gregorian来得更丰富,而且女声领唱的戏分更重了。此外,Gregorian很注重乐曲的整体氛围的营造,而Era的曲子旋律性更强,很易上口,感觉上更流行化一些吧。这也许正是Era成功的秘诀之一。
